Computer Classes

The Valley’s Computer Teacher, knows computers and has a lot of patience. It is a small classroom setting with computers and Internet to get the personal instruction you need. Hands-on, instructor-led computer training in all Microsoft Office products and more.  Computers 101 is a private institution, which places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction.  We pride ourselves in our curriculum and teachers.

All courses meet certification requirements for Texas Teachers. Computers 101 is registered and certified by the Texas Education Agency.

The following is our complete course list and a brief description.  Please note that every session is four hours long.  After completion of all sessions, a course certificate will be awarded.

How to Buy/Sell on E-Bay

COMP 101:  Computer Basics (Windows XP or Windows Vista)
Prerequisite NONE 
This class is our most requested computer training course.  Students who know absolutely nothing about the computer, are taught the fundamentals that cover the very basics to progressively advanced features such as how to operate and use the management components that come with your Windows computer.  Students learn to use a mouse, menus, cut, copy, paste, rename, create folders and etc., to advanced features like to create user accounts, defragmenter, uninstall programs and more. 
Learning Outcome of Course:  Student will learn how to operate and control their Windows operating system.

COMP 102:  Internet/E-Mail Basics
Prerequisite Computer Basics or equivalent experience
This class is our second most requested computer training course.  This course covers the fundamentals of the Internet and its most important features, such as how to find someone online, booking flights, how to get a free credit report and lots more.   We participate on special interest discussions, bulletins, blogs, chat rooms and other social networks.  In addition, you learn how to use Email and all of its features.  Some components include: setting up your own email account, send, receive, forward, and delete emails.  We also cover advanced items such as; calendar, tasks, automatic responds and much more.
Learning Outcome of Course:  Student will learn how to use the Internet and E-Mail appropriately and use most of its key capabilities.

COMP 103:  Word 2003 or Word 2007
Prerequisite:
Computer Basics or equivalent experience
This class covers all of the components from MS Word, which is a full featured word processing program.  This class begins with the very basics of Word to intermediate and  advanced features. 
Learning Outcome of Course:  The goal is to learn how to use MS Word to create professional documents such as announcements, letters, memos, reports and many other types of documents.

This class covers all of the components from MS PowerPoint, which is a graphical presentation software. This class begins with the very basics of PowerPoint to intermediate and advanced features. 
Learning Outcome of Course:  The goal is to learn how to use MS PowerPoint to create professional presentations.

COMP 105:  Excel 2003 or Excel 2007
Prerequisite: Computer Basics & Word 2003; or equivalent experience
This class covers all of the components from MS Excel, which is a powerful spreadsheet software. This class begins with the very basics of Excel to intermediate and advanced features. 
Learning Outcome of Course: 
The goal is to learn how to use MS Excel to create spreadsheets to organize data, complete calculations, make decisions, graph data, develop professional looking report and more.

This class covers all of the components from MS Access, which is a database software. This class begins with the very basics of Access to intermediate and advanced features.
Learning Outcome of Course:   The goal is to learn how to use MS Access, to create an work with a database and be able to find, organize, update, and report information stored in a database.

This class covers all of the components from MS Publisher, which is a desktop publishing software. This class begins with the very basics of Publisher to intermediate and advanced features.
Learning Outcome of Course:  The goal is to learn how to use MS Publisher to create professional looking publications and marketing material in house.

Learning Outcome of Course:  The goal is to learn how to use MS Outlook to manage personal information such as email, calendars, contacts, tasks, to-do lists, and documents or files on the hard drive.

Learning Outcome of Course:  The goal is to learn how to use Intuit QuickBooks in your new, future or current business, as a complete financial management and bookkeeping software.
